Good day to everyone. I love this helpful hint to clean my microwave (which is one of my least favorite jobs to do), it’s easy and can smell good.
Fill a small microwave safe bowl with water. Add lemon juice to the water ( I don’t measure, I just add in how much ever I want, you do need more water than juice though). Place in microwave and turn on for about 3-5 minutes. This creates steam that loosens all the yuck from you microwave, and it smells good to.
I will wipe the inside off a couple of times, rinse off my sponge, return the lemon water in the microwave turn on again for a few minutes, take out and continue my cleaning. I just repeat until it’s all clean.
Hello All
I hear about all types of “Helpful Hints,” some I’ve tried and some I haven’t. I do however try just about anything when it comes to getting rid of those pesky little things called BUGS!! Yuck.
Whether it’s ants, spiders, flies, mosquitoes, their all the same to me. I have heard and read both about this next helpful hint. I haven’t tried it yet, because I keep forgetting to buy the main item. But I will within this next week. If you have tried this or are going to, please let me know if it works and if you like it. It may beat paying a lot for the bug spray and you don’t get the smell and fumes.
Ant Killer
Buy a box, bag or container of unflavored grits. Shouldn’t cost you too much. Sprinkle it lightly around the ant colony or area they are in. They will flock quickly to eat up the grits. This will make the ants implode and destroy them. Goodbye ants.
Also it is known that ants don’t like Cayenne Pepper or Cucumber peelings. So if you have some you may want to give this a try also. Sprinkle the pepper around or lay out the peelings and see what happens.
Good Luck
Hope this will help you........

Here is this week's Misty Helpful Hint:
Another summer is upon us which for some of us mean, warm weather, the sound of children playing outside, the good smells of BBQ’s, and great time with friends......NOT!!!! For some of us it means trying to escape the outside creepy crawlies that we so much despise. Especially earwigs. Yes earwigs. Well here is a great way to get rid of those disgusting icky things, and a great way to recycle some of those Sunday papers.
Roll up layers of newspaper and wrap a rubber band around it. Pretty much the same way it’s delivered to you. Dunk the rolled paper in water, set in the place where you get a lot of earwigs. I do this in the evening, just because it’s cooler and the paper won’t dry out as quick. The earwigs for some reason are attracted to the newspaper and will burrow inside. The next day, pick up the paper, wrap it in a plastic grocery bad, tie shut and dispose of. That’s about it. Hopefully you don’t have any, but if you do.....try it.
Good Luck.

Here’s some quick fixes for this weeks helpful hint. I’ve gotten these from trying them myself or have had friends tell me they’ve tried them.
Problem: Lost the back of an earring
Solution: Cut the eraser off the end of a pencil, use that as a replacement.
Problem: A small hole, or tear in your panty hose
Solution: Use clear fingernail polish. Place polish around the hole or tear. Let dry.
Problem: Spilled oil or grease on your counters
Solution: Use baking soda on the spill. It absorbs the oil/grease, easy to clean up.
This is just a few for this week. Next week I’ll introduce many ways to use cat litter. Even if you don’t have a cat.
Have a great week.

Here’s more uses of Cat Litter for this weeks Helpful Hints. It’s amazing how many uses there are for this product. For the most part it’s not to expensive either, if you get just the regular scented or non-scented clay kind.
Problem: Smells in your diaper or garbage can.
Solution: Place a cup or two in the bottom of the diaper or garbage can. It absorbs odors and any small leaks.
Problem: Paint spills
Solution: Depending on the size of the spill, just pour litter over spill, let it absorb, then clean up.
Problem: Smelly shoes
Solution: Pour some litter in a knee-high nylon, tie at the top, lay in your sneaker or shoe. Take out when your ready to wear.
I will have more great uses for Cat Litter next week. I love this stuff.
Thanks Misty Great tip

Yep more ways to use Cat Litter. I have used it many times for many situations. It really is a great absorber of smelly things.
Problem: The trunk of your car isn’t smelly to fresh
Solution: Fill up a container with litter, put in your trunk (you may have to tie it down). That’s it.
Problem: Your gym or tennis shoes smell really, really bad
Solution: Sprinkle some litter in the bottom of your shoe overnight, or whenever your ready to wear them, dump the litter out and wear.
Problem: You have guest coming over and they smoke
Solution: Fill an ashtray or non-melting container with litter and it will absorb the ashes and smell.
Problem: You like to light candles but don’t like the wax melting in the bottom of the container
Solution: Put your candle in a votive, pour about ½ inch of litter around it. When the candle melts it will drip on the litter, easy to dump. Also if the candle melts down to far, the litter will most likely smother it out before a fire starts.
